NILD Group Educational Therapy

Have you ever wondered if the power of NILD educational therapy could be multiplied? NILD Group Educational Therapy™, GET, is an effective way to harness the dynamic of one-on-one and multiply the effectiveness through group intervention. GET training is available for NILD educational therapists that have completed level III. NILD educational therapists are taught how to adapt and implement the five core techniques in small group work for four to six students per group. Developing peer mediation enhances students’ self-regulation skills, facilitates social learning and cooperation abilities, and promotes interactive language among peers. With GET, the power of the NILD intervention is multiplied, you can reach more students and lower the cost to families for this intervention!

Rx for Discovery Reading

The Rx for Discovery Reading training takes the five essential components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension and systematically teaches NILD educational therapists how to use the NILD materials and methodology to develop these components. The training is designed to model how to weave these components, which we call “strands of language” into a language braid that is comprehensive, constructive, and creative. Once the Rx for Discovery Reading training is completed NILD educational therapists will be able to work with students in a one on one situation or in small groups and effectively and efficiently develop decoding and encoding skills in their students.

Rx 4 Discovery Math

The Rx 4 Discovery Math training strengthens your skills in 4 essential areas:

  1. To provide small-group mathematical intervention that includes activities to strengthen the foundation of mathematical thinking: Number Sense.
  2. To immerse students in dynamic activities that foster the understanding of what numbers mean as well as think and reason flexibly with numbers, use numbers to solve problems, spot unreasonable answers, understand how numbers can be taken apart and put together in different ways, see connections among operations, figure mentally, and make estimates.
  3. To strengthen conceptual understanding of numbers and encourage the development of self-generated mathematical strategies for efficient mathematical methods that produce independent thinkers.
  4. To provide instruction in mathematical language and problem solving through mediation, questioning, and small-group interactions where students' competency in routine and non-routine mathematical problems and awareness of patterns and relationships is strengthened.

MASTER'S DEGREE IN NILD EDUCATIONAL THERAPY THROUGH REGENT UNIVERSITY

Thank you for interest in the NILD Educational Therapy program.

Please see the Approved Degree Plan for the NILD Educational Therapy Master’s degree. This will give you an overview of the course requirements and how the Levels I, II and III fit into the 32 credit program. Although Levels I, II and III are taken for four credits each, please be aware that Regent University accepts three of the four credits per course for transfer to be applied to the program. This is because Regent University has a policy of accepting a maximum of 9 credits that can be applied to a 32 credit program. The courses need to have been taken for graduate credit in order to be eligible to be transferred to the program. The program is housed under the Individualized Degree Plan (IDP). When applying to the program please apply to the Individualized Degree Plan and make a note of interest in the Educational Therapy concentration. Questions, please contact TJ Reid at Regent University, treid@regent.edu.

"Last fall, I began a M.Ed. with an emphasis on NILD educational therapy from Regent. Due to time constraints, I can only do one class a semester. The fall class and current class have been well worth the financial investment. Additionally, everyone I have needed to interact with at the school has been most gracious and helpful. I am pretty "technology challenged". Professors, library staff, administration and help desk have gone out of their way to help me as needed. Education at a Christian school is such a blessing." Kayleen Nichols-Professionally Certified Educational Therapist (PCET)
